"Okay, so there is a true story of a crazy night behind this song - I won't go into too much detail because while that night certainly informed the lyrics to 'The Chemicals' I never intended it to be a story song, really. In a wider sense it's about all the addictions that drive us in our lives; be it caffeine to get you going in the morning, endorphins to reward you at the gym or the oxytocin you absorb from your lover's skin while you sleep at night. Drugs and alcohol are only part of the picture, some even find themselves addicted to pain and we are all, to a greater or lesser extent, driven by desire for and addiction to those chemical reactions, both natural and man-made, that drive our lives." - Adam Kidd
