about

"I don't really like writing conventional love songs, so 'Stowaways' takes us on a bit of a weird journey. It's about daydreaming that a couple could escape the planet aboard an alien spacecraft, to escape an impending environmental collapse. I remember seeing an old movie where all the scientists, politicians and rich folk get to leave the planet before it is destroyed - which is what would no doubt happen if this ever really occurred and the technology for escape was possible. It started off life as some sort of latin-jazz fusion thing, but I took it to the band and their playing transformed it into shiny indie pop." - Adam Kidd

lyrics

Stowaways

There'll be a light outside
My window one day
And if they've come to take me away
I'll ask them to find some space
So the two of us can stow aboard
And leave for a better place

It's getting hard to bear
You're reading it every day
Everybody's talking about the end of the world
Just like it's yesterday's news
And there's nothing we can do about it at all
So we run away

And we will stow away upon the first ship out of here
We'll float into outer space, yeah we'll disappear
And the world seems very small now from the window
Of this vessel and we don't know where they're taking us

You're having second thoughts
I can read it in your eyes
Don't be fooled by the government
When they buy another landslide victory
All they want to do is bleed the planet dry
And the rich ones will survive
Surprise, surprise

And we will stow away upon the first ship out of here
We'll float into outer space, yeah we'll disappear
And the world seems very small now from the window
Of this vessel and we don't know where they're taking us at all

And we will stow away upon the first ship out of here
We'll float into outer space, yeah we'll disappear
And the world seems very small now from the window
Of this vessel and we don't know where they're taking us at all
