about

"This lyric is also one that contains several themes which interrelate. Our friend Ousman, who used to play bass in an early line-up of Fragile Creatures, sadly passed away from lung cancer. The song is in part a tribute to him, but this mostly comes up in the verse groove, which is inspired by some of the Gambian music he introduced me to. I was also thinking about the German artist, Joseph Beuys. He also died of lung cancer, whose last great work of art was called 7000 Oaks; a project to plant trees as an act of spiritual healing for the psyche of the German people post-WWII. The dominant theme though is the attitude of many I've encountered from the baby-boomer generation, who don't seem to think the environment is their problem. An inability to prioritise responses to climate change in politics, while a generation who had so many advantages, pull up the ladder of opportunity behind them, damning future generations. I guess it's a little complex, actually!" Adam Kidd

lyrics

Hey little man with the big ideas
Tell me where did you hide your fears
Do you wake every single day
Believing the world can be changed?

They cut a hole in the atmosphere
And now they can't stop selling our future
Share the world

Little man found it hard to breathe
This was back in the 80s
Little man kept on planting trees
He was dying but he still believed

They cut a hole in the atmosphere
And now they can't stop selling our future
You say you love your children
But you're saving up for your own retirement
Share the world

Hit rock bottom
Grab a bottle
Don't change nothing?
Grab another
You keep saying
That it's not your fault
So why are you so sad?
You can't sleep at night, night

They cut a hole in the atmosphere
And now they can't stop selling our future
You say you love your children
But you're saving up for your own retirement
Share the world, world
