Heartstrings 03:53
You turned me up when I was down I held my volume down low Could hardly make a sound Was out of touch and out of key Tugged on my old heartstrings And now I'm all tuned up You gave me your heartbeat You tugged on my heartstrings Not just any love song Dancing to it all night long Was off the click m-m-my mind to slow Keeping up with any rhythm was out of my control You sped me up to your tempo Aligning every beat Quantizing me to your soul You gave me your heartbeat You tugged on my heartstrings Not just any love song Dancing to it all night long All night long When I was young I felt I didn't have a voice to sing No harmony I always end up listening And when we talk you feel you strike a chord with me But honestly I only felt discordancy You gave me your heartbeat You tugged on my heartstrings Not just any love song Dancing to it all night long Well I know another way Show me positivity Not just any love song Been dancing to it all night long All night long You gave me your heartbeat You tugged on my heartstrings Not just any love song Been dancing to it all night Well I know another way Show me positivity Not just any love song Been dancing to it all night

Can You? 03:07
Can you? Get an invite to the party Can you? Pass for glitterati Can you? Wear their clothes, act like no one knows, You're dressed in lies from your head down to your toes You can talk but can you listen? You say all the glistens is not gold Can you tell me truly that your idea of beauty Ain't turning up in the emperor's new clothes? Can you? See me on the TV Can you? Believe they've made it into a movie? Can you? Watch my show, now everybody knows I'm real I've got a brand and a cologne You can talk but can you listen? They say all the glistens is not gold Can you tell me truly that your idea of beauty Ain't turning up in the emperor's new clothes? Can you? You can talk, talk, talk, but can you listen? They say all the glistens is not gold Can you tell me truly that your idea of beauty Ain't just stealing Atahualpa's gold? That Spanish gold it can't help you now Cos this is just a lie you stole Can you tell me truly your quest for fame and booty Ain't just digging you a deeper hole? Can you?

Little Man 03:51
Hey little man with the big ideas Tell me where did you hide your fears Do you wake every single day Believing the world can be changed? They cut a hole in the atmosphere And now they can't stop selling our future Share the world Little man found it hard to breathe This was back in the 80s Little man kept on planting trees He was dying but he still believed They cut a hole in the atmosphere And now they can't stop selling our future You say you love your children But you're saving up for your own retirement Share the world Hit rock bottom Grab a bottle Don't change nothing? Grab another You keep saying That it's not your fault So why are you so sad? You can't sleep at night, night They cut a hole in the atmosphere And now they can't stop selling our future You say you love your children But you're saving up for your own retirement Share the world, world

Falling 05:03
You caught the last train out of here Cashed in and disappeared There won't be a next time And it's too late to apologise any more Was it the worst lie you ever told? To stay quiet while the trail went cold I'd destroy the evidence, if I were you, Pointing to your negligence, while you still can Falling out of love again Went to the doctor to ask for a cure He just said, "Others are suffering more But these little white pills will make you smile some more Just never stop taking them Or you'll fall to the floor Much worse than ever before" When the cold light of day slips in And the old wounds begin to heal I don't know what it was for Once skin and bone, now charred remains on the floor Falling out of love again Went to the police to report a crime They just say, "We've got others in mind" Falling out of love again Went to the priest to pray for my soul He just said, "I've got nothing more" Falling out of love again Back to the doctor to settle the score We've seen it before Kamikaze's all fall For love we can't afford A love we can't afford

about

Heart Beat EP is the first fully independent release from Fragile Creatures. Having been frustrated by the time it took to get our debut album released - it came out two years after we finished recording sessions - we were keen to get to work on a follow-up straight away, having already written plenty of new material. James and I bought some recording equipment, and started experimenting with recording demos in our rehearsal room. About a year and a half into these experiments we started to get some really promising results. I started to think we had a shot at recording ourselves to a standard that was worthy of release... but I wasn't sure how to actually release stuff - did we need a publisher? A new label?

I decided to go back to college, studying an MA in the Music Industry at Brighton's new independent music college, WaterBear, while we finished off the recordings. As I learnt more and more about the industry, and how drastically things had changed since the internet moved all the goalposts, I became more and more interested in working as a fully independent act. I was doing so much of the label administrative work, booking the shows and running all the social media anyway... now that we could record ourselves too a record label seems redundant.

For this release we picked 4 songs from the 14 we've recorded, to finish off and release as an EP, as a way of testing the water with this new independent approach. The songs are all loosely themed about different kinds of love, and the act of making it and now releasing it is having the affect of resuscitating the band... getting our collective hearts ticking creatively again!

It's been a lot of fun working on this project, one I expect will only get more exciting as we progress into finishing the rest of the songs off for a follow-up album. I think the songs are some of the best we've ever written. It's also been incredible to work this freely: earlier this week we finished the mix of Can You? and 24 hours later it was being played on the local BBC Introducing Show! Next week we'll be sharing the music video we already filmed for it - all done with an almost zero budget. I hope you like the stuff, and want to join us for the rest of this adventure!

Thanks for listening,

Adam Kidd
